The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) launched the IP Catalyst and a dedicated digital platform during the national conference titled “From Patent to Product: Accelerating IP Commercialisation in Electronics & IT”, aimed at strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem and promoting commercialisation of intellectual property (IP). The initiative seeks to support startups, researchers, academic institutions and industry stakeholders in transforming patented technologies into market-ready products and scalable business solutions. According to MeitY, the digital platform will facilitate collaboration between innovators, investors, research institutions and manufacturers while improving access to patent-related resources, technology transfer opportunities and commercial partnerships. The conference highlighted the growing importance of intellectual property-driven innovation in strengthening India’s electronics and information technology sectors.
The government stated that accelerating IP commercialisation is critical for enhancing India’s global competitiveness in emerging technologies such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), electronics manufacturing and digital technologies. The IP Catalyst initiative is expected to support innovation-led entrepreneurship, improve industry-academia collaboration and encourage greater participation in research and development (R&D) activities. Industry stakeholders noted that stronger IP ecosystems and technology commercialisation frameworks can help India move up the global value chain in high-technology manufacturing and innovation.
