Taiwan's MediaTek Expands India Footprint with New Noida R&D Centre

  • May 11, 2026

Taiwan-based semiconductor company MediaTek has expanded its presence in India with the launch of a new research and development (R&D) centre in Noida, strengthening the country’s position as a growing global hub for semiconductor design and technology innovation. The new facility, located at BPTP Capital City in Sector 94, Noida, spans approximately 1.04 lakh square feet and will support MediaTek’s efforts to expand its engineering talent base and research capabilities in India. According to the company, the R&D centre will work alongside its Bengaluru operations to accelerate innovation in semiconductor technologies and advanced chip design solutions. The expansion reflects increasing investments by global technology companies in India’s electronics and semiconductor ecosystem, supported by the country’s skilled workforce and growing digital economy.

MediaTek stated that India continues to remain a key market for its innovation and engineering operations. The company has leased the Noida facility for a long-term tenure, with the overall transaction value estimated at around Rs. 144 crore (US$ 16.00 million) over 10 years. Industry experts noted that Noida is emerging as a major technology and commercial hub due to increasing demand for Grade-A office spaces, improved infrastructure and proximity to the upcoming Jewar International Airport. MediaTek’s expansion aligns with India’s broader objective of strengthening domestic semiconductor design, electronics manufacturing and high-technology research capabilities under initiatives aimed at boosting the country’s semiconductor ecosystem and digital infrastructure.
