Tyre Exports Reach Record US$ 3.09 Billion in FY26 Despite Supply Chain Disruptions

  • June 4, 2026

India’s tyre exports touched a record Rs. 27,312 crore (US$ 3.09 billion) in FY26, registering growth of 9% from Rs. 25,057 crore (US$ 2.96 billion) in FY25 despite global supply chain disruptions, elevated logistics costs and trade uncertainty. The US remained the largest export destination, accounting for 15% of total export value at Rs. 4,082 crore (US$ 0.46 billion), although its share moderated from 17% in the previous year following changes in tariff structures on Indian tyre imports. Germany, Italy, Brazil and France also emerged as key export markets, reflecting the sector’s ability to diversify its global presence amid challenging international trade conditions. The record performance highlights the growing competitiveness of Indian tyre manufacturers and the increasing acceptance of Indian products in major global markets.

According to the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA), the industry’s strong export performance reflects sustained investments in manufacturing capacity, product development and technological advancement. Tyre manufacturers have invested around Rs. 30,000 crore (US$ 3.14 billion) in greenfield and brownfield projects over the last four to five years, strengthening production capabilities and supporting long-term growth. With an annual turnover of approximately Rs. 1 lakh crore (US$ 10.48 billion), the tyre industry remains one of India’s significant manufacturing sectors and a major contributor to export earnings. Capacity expansion, market diversification and continued investment have enabled Indian tyre makers to maintain growth momentum despite external pressures. The sector’s record export performance further reinforces India’s position as an important global hub for tyre manufacturing and automotive component exports.
