India’s efforts to strengthen economic engagement with the United States received a fresh boost as Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal held a series of high-level business and investment meetings in New York on May 28, 2026. During the visit, Union Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal met senior leaders from some of the world’s most influential companies and investment firms, including CEO of Carlyle Group Mr. Harvey Schwartz, Chairman and CEO of Morgan Stanley Mr. Ted Pick, Chairman of Warburg Pincus Mr. Charles Kaye, Co-founder and CEO of Amneal Pharmaceuticals Mr. Chintu Patel and CEO of Mastercard Mr. Michael Miebach. The discussions focused on deepening India-U.S. trade and investment ties while exploring opportunities to expand business partnerships across key sectors.
The engagements covered a broad range of areas, including financial services, healthcare, digital payments, manufacturing, innovation, artificial intelligence, supply chain resilience and emerging technologies. The meetings highlighted India’s growing attractiveness as a global investment destination, supported by sustained economic growth, policy reforms and an improving business environment. The statement further noted that more than 50 prominent business leaders participated in an interaction organised in collaboration with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum.
